Social Action

“There has been progress and there continues to be progress, but there’s work to do. We’ve all got work to do!”

– Frankie Muse Freeman, Esq.
14th National President

The Saint Louis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is dedicated to promoting leadership, advocacy, and empowerment to create social change and influence public policy.

Under the guidance of the National Social Action Commission, we advocate for the Sorority’s objectives by mobilizing our members, leaders, and the community. Our chapter plays a vital role in the movement to secure equal political, educational, and economic rights for everyone.

Each of our initiatives includes an advocacy component, which we implement through our social action efforts as needed.

Local chapter initiatives include:

Delta Days

Delta Days is a key initiative designed to increase our members’ involvement in the public policy-making process at every level of government.

  • Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital:  The National Social Action Commission began this annual legislative conference in 1989. It features legislative briefings, issue forums, and advocacy skills development, with speakers including key policymakers, members of the U.S. Congress, and national issues experts.
  • State Level:  We hold Delta Days in Jefferson City, MO, to bring members from across the state together. We meet with state representatives and senators to discuss important issues and bills that affect our communities.
  • Local Level:  Our chapter holds Delta Days at St. Louis City Hall and St. Louis County Council. For the 2025-2026 sorority year, we plan to expand this initiative to include St. Charles County.

Youth Initiative Volunteer Application
